- MAS has decided not to introduce lower priced carbon steel katanas. Currently, all our products are produced in Japan and South Korea. In order to produce lower priced swords, we have been testing various blades made by Chinese forges to find a potential partner who might be able to produce quality swords are low price. Unfortunately, our venture turned out to be rather dissapointing. The price criteria was easily met but the lack of quality control in many Chinese forges could not be resolved. We apologize to those who has been waiting for the arrival of the low price katanas. Some of the tested blades will be sold at below-cost price next month through our website.
- Our stock L6 katana models will be upgraded starting September production. All base models will have Japanese silk ito handle wrap as the default option and Japanese sageo will be equipped on the saya. Also, the saya will be finished with buffalo horn pieces. The upgraded Japanese parts are imported from Namikawa Heibei Co. in Tokyo. Until the old inventory is cleared, some models might be equipped with old fittings. These models will be offered at slight discount.

- After careful consideration, we decided to maintain the current price level as long as possible. There will NOT be price increase on January 1st as originally announced and we will evaluate the prices in few months. In the environment where many of our competitors increased their price at least 15% in 2007 and plan to increase them again in the new year, we strongly believe that our products offer great value in addition to superb quality compared to most other vendors in the market.

- We guarantee that If any L6 blade bends or breaks in tameshigiri (tatami and green bamboo cutting) during the lifetime of the purchaser, we will replace the blade for free as long as our smith is alive and we are in business. The guarantee applies to only blades made of L6 steel and not to fittings or furnitures. We are the only vendor who guarantees the blade against damage in bamboo cutting.

- We have improved chemical process for darkening the fittings. The fittings will be much more resistant to scratch and wear with new process.
- A customer informed us that he was able to cut 1/4" 1018 mild steel rod with our standard katana without any damage to the blade. The photo will be uploaded on our website as soon as we receive it. Warning: although it was successfully done by this particular customer, it will avoid the warranty on the blade.
